What You Need to Know
For known supporters (imported or migrated) and/or those that have pre-registered, sending invitations to bid is the preferred way to launch bidding for both online auctions and mobile bidding at a gala. The invitations provide one-click access so your supporters can browse and bid immediately - without having to create or sign in to an account.
To draw in potential bidders that are unknown to your organization and those who haven't pre-registered, promote a link/QR code to your catalog. While browsing your public catalog, each item will display a "Sign in or Signup to Bid" link (instead of Place a Bid) for users that are not logged in. This link brings them to a page that asks for their email. If their email is recognized - an email will be sent to allow them access without having to sign in. If their email is not recognized, they will be directed to the signup form to create an account. After creating their account, they will be brought back to the item they wanted to bid on - and will remain logged in on that device. This redirect/auto-invite system prevents your supporters from inadvertently creating a duplicate account by providing them with easy access to their existing account.
The very best place to monitor and manage online bidding activity is the Online Mobile Dashboard - which provides all the tools you'll need to confirm your set-up, monitor bidding by group, bidders, and/or items and make adjustments on the fly.
Promoting your online auction/mobile bidding doesn't end once bidding begins - successful online events have a plan for continuing to generate excitement and buzz about the event while the bidding underway.
Your team will want to know how to cancel individual bids that were placed in error. And of course, you'll want to be able to view the bidding progress. . .
