This article describes the options for migrating custom fields and the tools available for managing the custom fields and any custom field data copied from previous event sites.
Selecting Migration Options for Custom Fields
From the migration menu, you can choose to migrate the custom fields only - or the custom fields, along with any data they contain.
If you're not sure - or if you know that you want to keep some custom data (eg relationship to organization) but not others (meal selection) - go ahead and migrate it all. It's easy to delete or hide custom fields you won't need and you'll be able to clear the migrated data from individual fields if necessary.
Managing Unwanted Migrated Fields
Go to Site Settings > Customize Your Site > Look and Feel > Custom Fields
Deleting or hiding the Field Group will automatically delete/hide all of the associated fields.
Deleting a field cannot be undone. Hidden fields (and their data) can be reversed.
Editing Migrated Fields and Clearing Unwanted Data:
Use the buttons provided to manage individual fields.
Deleting a field also deletes any data and cannot be undone.
Click here for more information on Edit options, including hiding individual fields from public forms, while allowing your team to access and edit as necessary.
Clearing All Data deletes all existing data in the field and cannot be undone.
Clearing Migrated Data removes any data added during the time period of the migration. Be aware that the time period is not precise - so any edits made to the field data immediately after the migration (within 15 minutes or so) may also be deleted. Cleared data cannot be restored but could be re-migrated.
To View Custom Field Data
- Go to the desired Datapage (eg Tickets for Guest Data)
- Click on the Customize button in the upper right
- Check the custom fields you wish to add as columns to your screenview (this customization is stored in your browser and does not affect/control the view of other admin users.
