What You Need to Know
The software provides two options for asking your supporters to cover, or help defray the costs of running your event:
Processing Fee Offset adds an optional fee to the payment form for all credit card transactions. The offset fee cannot be required as a condition of sale but can be set as the default choice, requiring action (unchecking a box) to opt out.
The Last Ask is similar to the "optional tip" model some other platforms use - except that 100% of the "tips" are donated to your organization instead of the platform. You specify the three suggested tip levels and the "ask" for each level and the "opt out" method. This option displays for ALL payment types.
You can preview how each of these options display on the payment form on your event site at Site Settings > Payments/Credit Card > The Last Last Ask/Fee Offsets.
Decisions You Need to Make
In addition to specifying the fee rate and/or suggested tip levels, you may want to use different features on different payment forms. Typically, Last Ask is used at the conclusion of an event - eg at event night check-out. You probably wouldn't want to use Last Ask during registration AND check-out, but you probably do still want to offset the processing fees for the ticket sale.
If only Offset Processing Fees is enabled - it will display on ALL credit card payment forms.
If only Last Ask is enabled - you can specify which Payment forms it will display on.
If both are enabled - you must specify which option you want to display on each form (they cannot be used together on the same payment form).
