You have the option to allow unknown users (the public) to view your Virtual event via a generic link or by clicking the Virtual event banner on your event site.
When "public view" is enabled, you can control how much access the public has by choosing to require them to complete your registration form before they can view the livestream or only if they wish to place a bid/donation or participate in the virtual chat.
Public option uses the Signup form for registration - so you can specify exactly what information you want to collect (including pre-vaulting a credit card).
To Setup Public View Option
Go to: Site Settings > Events > Virtual Event > Attendance and Access
- Check the box to "Allow the public access to Livestream/Virtual event"
- Choose when to require registration and whether to display chat messages to unregistered users.
- Copy and paste the URL provided for promoting public links.
- Save changes.
Important! If your viewer count approaches 350 - and you notice the quality of your livestream degrading - you'll want to disable public access to preserve the livestream quality for signed in supporters. Disabling public access will disconnect all users that are not signed in - so an announcement is warranted, to allow public users an opportunity to sign up before being disconnected.
Public View 1: Require Signup before bidding or donating
Public users can access your Virtual event via a generic link or by clicking on the Virtual Banner on the event site to access a "read only" view.
Buttons are provided to signup if they want to participate (the signup form is the same for both view options).
Public View 2: Require Signup before viewing livestream
Users are asked for their email first to prevent duplicate user records from being created:
If the email entered is not recognized, the signup form you have configured displays for the user to create an account:
If the email entered matches an existing user record, this window displays, providing access to their existing account by retrieving a code sent to their email address:
