Effective Sept 22, 2022, Mastercard is requiring additional disclosures in order to process credit card payments for recurring donations.
Shown below are the changes we have implemented to comply with the new requirements:
New requirement: Before completing the transaction, the donor must acknowledge that they are aware that they are making a recurring donation and that their credit card will be processed monthly.
We have added a pop-up window to collect affirmative consent. In the case of a chargeback, if you would like documentation of their affirmative consent, please use the help widget to contact support.
Note: similar messaging has always been (and is still) provided on the confirmation screen and in the auto-generated confirmation email.
New requirement: All receipts must provide the terms (amount, frequency, and duration) of the recurring donation and instructions on how to manage or cancel the donation.
Previously, the software only noted duration when an expiration had been specified (eg $5/mo for 12 months). "Until cancelled" now displays for all indefinite recurring donations.
The primary contact for your account/subscription has been listed as the contact for managing or cancelling a recurring donation.

New Requirement: Receipts must be provided after each credit card transaction and include the date that the next transaction will be processed.
The software now auto-sends an emailed receipt to each sustaining donor after each monthly payment with the required information.
